Dominique Aegerter Photographed by us at the GP weekend in Mugello in 2019 when he was still on the road for Forward MV. Our interview with the Swiss about his move to Moto2 and his expectations can be found on this page under “Interviews+TV”.

Aegerter the fastest – Öttl and Gradinger not included

Since the curve described by Valentino Rossi as the “supermarket parking lot curve” was finally rebuilt during the winter break. Therefore, a comparison with earlier times is no longer possible. However, this did not prevent some hasty writers from immediately writing headlines about supposed sensational times. However, MotoGP has only just shown how little meaningfulness sensational times over a single lap usually have in relation to the race. Jack Miller, the most cited favorite just a few days before the first GP, only landed in 9th place and the best Ducati rider was Johann Zarco in the end. We’re almost a little proud that we pointed out before race Sunday that the French shouldn’t be underestimated. But back to WorldSSP and the first day of testing in the immediate vicinity of Jonathan Rea’s KRT team. The times are of secondary importance, to say the least, as many teams and their drivers got together in the pits for the first time.

WorldSSP Test – two days before the premier class of the near-series world championship starts for the first big test on the Circuito de Cataluña. In the background with the red marking is the meanwhile rebuilt turn 10, which according to some drivers should bring about half a second in terms of lap time.

The “Krummenator” only found in the front midfield

With “Krummi” in 11th place, the 2019 world champion found his way back to the WorldSSP paddock. Randy Krummenacher was the big absentee after the 2020 season opener. The fact that he lost almost 2 seconds on his compatriot Aegerter on the first day doesn’t need to mean anything. With the third place in the World Cup, Philipp Öttl and Thomas Gradinger, there are currently two indicators missing for the Swiss. The former is missing because his team does not yet have the material for their WorldSBK driver Lucas Mahias. With the Austrian, on the other hand, it is probably due to the tight budget of his team that he is not there yet. In this respect, you shouldn’t have too high expectations when you return. Before the season finally starts in Aragon, it will take almost 2 months. Before that, the first big test of the season this week is in Barcelona. As soon as the WorldSBK comes out on Wednesday, we will report on it in more detail.

Randy Krummenacher photographed by us during an interview after qualifying in 2018. With his “Alp-Öhi-like” (Swiss mountain man) appearance, he had a handsome first season at Bardahl Evan Bros Yamaha. His final breakthrough came the following year when he clinched the title just ahead of teammate Federico Caricasulo.
