First race of the WorldSSP 600 lap in Argentina
Polesitter Jules Cluzel was the man with the best start ahead of Can Öncü, followed by World Cup runner-up Steven Odendaal, Manuel Gonzalez and championship leader Dominique Aegerter. A little later, the South African was right in front of the Swiss, who was about to secure his first world championship title of his career ahead of time. While the Bardahl Evan Bros pilot had to cross the finish line before the “Domi-Fighter” in order to keep the title fight open, Aegerter was able to drive freely. The World Cup leader did this too, and it wasn’t long before he was in front of the man with the number 4. Odendaal then fell behind his team-mate Peter Sebestyen and everything looked like he would lose more important points to the Ten Kate pilots in the fight for the world championship. The man from Johannesburg didn’t give up and shortly before the halfway point of the race he passed the Hungarian and started chasing the number 77.
Cluzel outstanding – the title competitors only in the battle for fourth place
While the French had pulled away early and was heading for his second win of the season, Manuel Gonzalez caught the Turkish behind and was on P2. With six laps to go, Steven Odendaal was back to Aegerter and passed him shortly afterwards. The Swiss no longer seemed to have the weapons to take back position four. Nevertheless, he tried everything to stick with the South African. With four laps to go, the race was over for Raffaele De Rosa when the little Italian crashed and blocked his chance of a good place. In turn nine, the world championship leader was able to almost pass Odendaal on the penultimate lap, and shortly afterwards he even managed to brake into a left turn. But the Swiss got far, and his opponent was able to fight his way back to P4. In the end, Cluzel won over Gonzalez and Öncü. The World Cup remained open after P4 for the South African ahead of Aegerter, but the Swiss can make the sack on Sunday.

Can Öncü first thanked his mentor Kenan Sofuoglu. Then with his team and his family, and he is happy that he was able to imitate his brother Deniz, who had previously taken a Moto3 podium. Third place is a reward for all the work and efforts of the last time. Manuel Gonzalez was very satisfied with second place, he tried to stay calm and catch up with the Turks in front of him, which he succeeded. He could be happy with that, and it could go on like this for him. It sounded similar about the winner. Jules Cluzel was of course the happiest man in the WSSP field that day. With his win, everything went according to plan, and he hopes things will continue similarly on Sunday.

If Aegerter crosses the finish line in the next race in front of Odendaal, he will already be the new world champion before the final round in Indonesia. With currently 52 points ahead of the South African, he still needs to manage this gap because on the island of Lombok there are a maximum of 50 points left in the last two World Cup races. Philipp Öttl, along with his fallen Kawasaki brand colleague Raffaele de Rosa, was the loser of the day after the German missed the top ten and Cluzel is about to lose his fourth place in the World Cup.

The calendar, with only two rounds to go
In the end, FIM and Dorna confirmed the two questionable rounds in Argentina and Indonesia. In view of the loss of sponsors, this is one of the reasons why numerous drivers and teams either do not participate at all or only take part in Europe. The most prominent victims were Loris Baz, whose Ten Kate team failed to raise the money for a full season in WorldSBK. But even for top Supersport drivers like the Austrian Thomas Gradinger and the German Patrick Hobelsberger, there was no chance for a full season in the second Corona year.
