An infinitely sad Jonathan Rea in the Kawasaki Racing Team Box – the father of two young sons, is of course particularly concerned about such incidents, as just experienced in Jerez de la Frontera shortly before the planned start of the race.

No WSBK and WSSP 600 races after a serious accident in WSSP 300

A black Jerez Saturday with a heavy fall in the WorldSSP 300 category ensured that the remaining races were canceled due to a heavy mass fall in the junior class. Due to serious and apparently life-threatening injuries to a very young cousin of MotoGP star Maverick Viñales, this decision by the race management was understandable. While Dean Berta Viñales may still be fighting for his life or may have already lost it, none of those responsible wanted to risk simply going back to day-to-day business. The razor-sharp fight for the Superbike World Championship crown will therefore only continue on Sunday morning. Even if it is difficult to digest for the fans on the track, you should have the necessary understanding.

A pitch-black year in motorcycle racing

After the young Swiss talent Jason Dupasquier, who lost his life in Mugello in an initially harmless-looking accident after a collision with a subsequent driver, fate struck the second Spanish youngster. Dean Berta Viñales (Viñales Racing Team) was involved in a mass crash together with Alejandro Carrion (Kawasaki GP Project), Daniel Mogeda (Team # 109 Kawasaki), Harry Khouri (Fusport RT Motorsport from SKM Kawasaki). This happened at the beginning of the eleventh lap and for reasons of piety we forego the usual fall images on this route. At this moment, you can only be in your thoughts with your loved ones and wish them a lot of strength. How things continue on Sunday is currently irrelevant for this reason. But of course, as always at WorldSBK, we will report on it.

A picture posted on Twitter by Dean Berta Viñales himself – the boy was only 16 years old on April 20 of this year. Official confirmation came at 3:10 p.m. local time, that the young Catalan did not survive his severe injuries.
