WorldSBK photographed in Brno by us before the start of the last edition on this beautiful route in 2018. As had long been hoped, the Czechs will now get another event, which is, however, much further away for the neighbors from Slovakia, near the German border.

Additional SBK appointment in Brüx (Most) in August

As our readers have known since the first official WorldSBK calendar was published on November 30, 2020, it was clear from the start that some events were questionable. Nothing has changed about that even 5 months later, except for the fact that other portals have joined us in the meantime. Originally, we hardly saw any criticism of the completely utopian MotoGP calendar from November 6th, which was then promptly and predictably, did not last. After Brno dropped out of WorldSBK despite a wonderful event in 2018, an event followed on a track that many motorsport fans know from other occasions. See as an example our interview with the former WSBK top driver Max Neukirchner on this page about his racing school under “Interviews TV” in the article “Neukirchner’s racing school”.

The beautiful route near Brüx is just under an hour and a half drive south of Dresden and in a north-westerly direction towards Chemnitz, the German border is only 20 km away. The contract with Dorna was designed for 5 years.
Eastern German Ernst Degner in conversation with František Stastný – an icon of Czech racing in the post-war years. The man even caused a stir with podium places at the Tourist Trophy and was therefore anything but an unknown abroad. We are very happy with the hospitable country, it has finally found a fixed date in the calendar of at least the WorldSBK. Australia round just canceled

Even if the official term for it was “postponed”, it is not a postponement, but rather a rejection. We already know these misleading terms from MotoGP in the first year of the corona pandemic. The fact is that there won’t be two events next year, but at most one, just like this year for Sachsenring and Assen in the Prototype World Championship. Since San Juan (Argentina) and Mandalika (Indonesia) are also on the brink, it was at least very wise of Dorna to take precautions early with the race in the Czech Republic. It would be fatal for racing if at some point it was almost exclusively driven in Spain, Italy and Portugal. Since Oschersleben withdrew early for 2021, they may be the spoiled ones, which is of course very annoying for the German fans. Seen the other way around, it is hardly closer for fans from Franconia, Thuringia and the motorsport enthusiast Saxony.

Aerial view of the route from Most from a different perspective. The homologation is still pending, but is to be regarded as very unproblematic, the WorldSBK recently even competed in Imola. There is a lack of nooks and crannies there, both in terms of safety standards and, for example, the underpass from the grandstand area to the paddock. In comparison, Most is ultra-modern and absolutely safe.
The racetrack is 4.212 km (2.617 miles) long, 12-15 m wide and, like most courses on the calendar, is driven clockwise. With 14 right and 7 left turns, Most is one of the most winding routes in the WSBK calendar when it comes to changing direction.
The recording of a formula race from the archive – with the characteristic tower on the hill in the background. Racing in Most has a long history, even before the permanent racetrack was built. Before that, the races were held in the middle of the nearby town.
